Sears Plus is a new membership program costing $99 annually that offers members 20% off clothing, free tire repair, and steep discounts on other car, plumbing, and appliance services.Went to a local mom and pop and got an even better deal. You can do it, but the salesman will not! They go right to the computer and the computer only. A Sears employee can get fired for doing that. Finalizing, therefore, isn't a problem for me because there shouldn't be any surprises. For me, I like to see everything written in ink and on paper before initializing negotiations on the computer. The importance of this is it levels the playing field. If you shop at a national retailer like Sears, see if you can get the salesman to transact your cost on paper first. How you wonder? When you have purchase an item, then you present coupons or other discounts, and the finale tally is completed look at the receipt carefully.Guess what? you may have been taxed before the discounts were applied. But, and even though the sale is already transacted, Sears isn't going to fill a truck and utilize manpower, only to find out, that particular shipment wasn't cost effective! Are you familiar that even a tax on an item is considered profit. So from a bottomline perspective, as long as there's room on the truck, no problem. Depending on volume, your order may get bumped because logistics automatically instructs the loaders to load the most profitable cargo first. Sears has a fixed number of trucks and manpower. The data regarding your sale is figured to the tee that even includes commision to the salesman. You have an item with an expected delivery date. I've found out that retailers like Sears have a computer generated program that will intentionally delay delivery based on a cost/profit analysis. Well here's some interesting information for you. It might give you some history about your home and its previous owners - or just an info-seeking adventure ! You could go ask what they have on record and take a look. Another route is that sometimes your local planning dept has the original submissions - from when the lot was developed. Or you may find another catalog house that IS yours. There are very similar elements on your home, but keep in mind that a custom builder may have put together enough Sears kits to build similar plans and styles when building his own custom homes during that same time period. Is your floor plan exactly like the Crescent ? Your house front appears asymmetrical in your photo with what appears to be the original portico located to the right of center, with 2 simple vs 4 doric columns, the columns being very consistent in 3 out of 4 others, making yours different in those elements, from the Crescent examples. I dont think its the Crescent based on the perfect symmetry of that named plan and elevation. Solid maple flooring and Oak doors with 2 rms in the attic ? - For under $3,000. These Sears Catalog houses exist in small towns all across America - Its hard to imagine that we could order up a home like it was done then, but the railroad made it possible. Ive done lots of historical architectural research for my work. My guess is that Sears has a bug up their A** because I didn't go for an expensive service contract and I didn't employ their drivers. What is disturbing about all this is the fact that nobody would give me a reason for the delay. So I told Sears to just cancel my order all together. And after I was assured there wouldn't be any more delays. The next delivery date was today and I found out yesterday it was going to postponed again. I did everything I can to get answers both in the store and Sears online, to include talking directly with an electrolux representative. Cancelled! I knew immeadiately there were more cancellations in my future. The unit was suppose to arrive at the store on March 2nd. Alright I figured, I got a pretty good deal to include a 10% cash back rebate and my other unit is up for sale for a few hundred $$$ so I'm all set to go. This unit was one of those phony price protected introductory gimmicks. I chose to pick up the unit myself, that saved me 3.5%, and I didn't want a service contract from Sears. So I decided on the Electrolux FD/BF refridgerator.
